‘Jason’, a 32 year old plant operator, contacted us after being involved in a road accident where the other person involved tragically lost their life.
This traumatic event triggered a severe emotional reaction for Jason, including experiencing flashbacks of the accident, and anxiety and depression. A concerned colleague recommended that Jason reach out to us for professional support.
Jason was referred to one of our case workers and we arranged for Jason to have counselling sessions, which played a huge part in his emotional recovery and wellbeing. Through counselling, he learned invaluable tools to manage his anxiety, depression and negative thought patterns, and it empowered him to confront his issues directly, rather than avoiding or suppression them.
As a result of the counselling provided by us, Jason saw significant changes in his life. He gained the confidence to manage his emotional issues and take control. He also felt better equipped to manage his negative thoughts and no longer felt overwhelmed by anxiety. Fortunately, a colleague saw that Jason was struggling and was able to signpost him to us for professional support. This meant that we were able to help Jason before his situation worsened and ensured he was able to put in place coping mechanisms to help him deal with the emotional scars of the fatal accident. This highlights the importance of looking out for colleagues or friends who might be struggling. A simple conversation can make all the difference.
