Father receives urgent help for his daughter’s health concerns

Father and Daughter

Jeremy, a 40-year-old Incident Support Operative, contacted Lighthouse Charity after his family experienced a difficult situation involving their seven-year-old daughter.

Following a traumatic event, their daughter began showing signs of post-traumatic stress and withdrew from eating. Her condition caused significant concern for the family, who were trying to find support quickly but were facing delays through other services.

Jeremy and his family were understandably worried as their daughter’s condition worsened and they struggled to access timely help elsewhere. The situation created a lot of stress at home, particularly as they felt unsure about the next steps and concerned about her wellbeing.

Once Jeremy made contact, Lighthouse Charity responded quickly and assigned a caseworker within days. Therapy sessions were arranged promptly for their daughter, and occupational health support was also put in place to help guide the family through the available care pathways and ensure the right support was accessed.

The support helped the family access professional help much sooner than they had been able to arrange independently. Over the following weeks, their daughter began receiving therapy and started to show gradual improvement.

For Jeremy and his family, having someone to guide them through the process reduced pressure and helped them feel more supported during a difficult period.

The family is now in a more stable position. Their daughter continues to receive support and is making progress, and the household routine has begun to return to normal. Jeremy and his family are focused on continuing their daughter’s recovery and maintaining her progress. They also feel more confident about knowing where to turn if they need support in future.

“At the point of complete desperation, we reached out to Lighthouse Charity. Within minutes of speaking to someone on the phone, we finally felt heard, understood, and not alone. I cried – it was the first time in a long time that I felt someone truly listened.

From the moment we made that call, Lighthouse Charity was there for us. If you’re in a place where you’re unsure whether to reach out, don’t hold yourself back from the support they offer. It’s genuine, compassionate, and delivered by people who know how to listen and truly connect with you.”
