Last year, Ardmac Ltd. held their fifth annual Cycle for Hope event at the Swords Business Campus in Dublin, with over 150 cyclists taking part to fundraise for the Lighthouse Charity and Pieta.
The team at Ardmac conceived of the idea five years ago as a practical way to make a difference in the construction community. They wanted to bring people together to raise funds and awareness for vital charitable services whilst actively promoting a feeling of fulfillment and unity.
Since its inception it has grown in momentum, becoming a much anticipated date in the industry calendar. The event has raised over €350,000 to date, with 1,000 people taking part as cyclists and volunteers.
This year included a live band, a food truck and a mobile bike shop, as well as a horde of volunteers from the age of 5 and up. Participants were given the option to choose from 30km, 65km or 100km routes ensuring there was a difficulty level for all, with volunteers handing out much-coveted medals at the finish line. Evidently rising in popularity, this year had an international dimension, with cyclists from the company’s wider network taking part virtually from Spain, France, Italy and Portugal.
Anne-Marie Sheehan, Lighthouse Charity Partnership Manager for Munster, was delighted to represent the charity on the day. “A huge thank you to everyone at Ardmac for inviting us along to this brilliant event, and for all the hard work that went into organising the day. We’re so grateful to be included in such an amazing and poignant fundraiser – bringing people together to support mental health.”

Funds were raised through individual and corporate sponsorship, all orchestrated by Ardmac’s dedicated team. Following the event, the Lighthouse Charity received an incredibly generous donation of €38,399.
