In the spirit of adventure, employees of Vantage Data Centers recently pedalled their way from London to Amsterdam in a challenging yet accessible cycle event. What made this journey truly remarkable was its inclusive nature, welcoming participants from various fitness levels and cycling backgrounds.
The decision to undertake the London to Amsterdam Cycle was motivated by a desire for an adventurous challenge that could be embraced by a diverse group of people from across the business, not just those seasoned in cycling. Impressively, several participants took on the challenge with hired bikes, some having never cycled more than 10 miles prior to this epic journey.
With favourable weather gracing their route, all three cycling groups made steady progress. The London to Harwich leg, however, presented unexpected challenges as participants navigated through hilly terrain, turning what seemed like a routine leg into a demanding day in the saddle. The Netherlands leg, in contrast, showcased some of the most breathtaking cycle paths, winding through towns and sand dunes all the way to the vibrant city of Amsterdam.
Highlights of this cycling adventure was the pleasure of pedalling through the suburbs and parks of Amsterdam, surrounded by hundreds of fellow cyclists. The shared experience of navigating the city’s streets added to their sense of accomplishment.
