The team at Alexander Maltby Limited (AML) have gone the extra mile, raising an incredible £12,261 for Lighthouse Charity through the London to Brighton Bike Ride.

The AML team wanted to organise a challenge that combined fitness and teamwork to raise awareness and vital funds. The ride demonstrated AML’s commitment to promoting wellbeing and supporting mental health across the industry.

Recognising the growing impact of poor mental health on construction workers, the team chose to support Lighthouse Charity and help ensure more people can access the support they need when life becomes difficult.

Head Buyer, Pinar Willis, said:

“Over the past decade, the number of workers aged 16 to 34 reporting that their mental health limits the type or amount of work they can do has increased significantly. We couldn’t just stand still.

We decided to support Lighthouse Charity because of the great work it does in promoting mental wellbeing within the construction industry. Our team joined the London to Brighton charity ride and raised over £12,000.

The ride was fun and thrilling, but it was also a way for everyone at AML to care for others. We celebrated together afterwards and enjoyed the challenge, knowing every mile would help make a real difference.

We want to thank everyone who helped us reach this incredible total and, most importantly, made us feel so supported along the way. Your kindness, encouragement and generosity meant so much to us. We truly couldn’t have done it without you.”

Alongside the fundraising, the event provided an opportunity to raise awareness of the importance of mental wellbeing and encourage conversations about the support available to construction workers and their families.

Sharing news of the fundraiser, AML described the ride as “fun and thrilling”, adding that it had given everyone involved the opportunity to support the wider construction community while working towards a common goal.

The funds raised will the charity continue to provide free and confidential support to those working in construction and their families
