Bellway Graduates Raise £1,289 Through Regional Quiz Fundraisers

Bellway 3

Every year, representatives from Bellway’s graduates scheme join forces with the Lighthouse Charity to launch a project aimed at raising money for our construction community as well as raising awareness of the life-saving services that are free for everyone in construction through the charity.

This year was no different as Bellway graduates from across the UK, in a variety of graduate positions, have shown their creativity and commitment to supporting their construction community by raising £1,289 through a series of regional fundraising quizes.

Having partnered with the Lighthouse Charity on graduate projects for several years, this year’s cohort chose to organise a series of quiz fundraisers across multiple regions, bringing colleagues and the public together for fundraising, and a little fun, friendly competition!

Quizzes took place in the North East, East Midlands, North London and Kent.

The events were a huge success. Emily Jordan, Technical Graduate at Bellway North London, who organised one of the quiz events, said:

“The event was a great way to bring colleagues together in support of such a great cause and make a positive impact on the day.

The best bit for me was when the Quiz Master using the Managing Director’s mini treadmill during the first round to set the pace of the quiz questions. We also did a baby face round which included members of staff’s baby pictures and the answer round for that was hilarious as many people had made very wrong guesses

I also loved doing the music round and playing the songs out loud while many people looked very confused and didn’t know AC/DC.”

Meanwhile, Emily Ackroyd, Land Graduate at Bellway East Midlands, highlighted the positive impact the event had on colleagues throughout the office:

“The event was a brilliant way for the office to be brought together and raise awareness and funds for the Lighthouse Charity. The support and involvement from my colleagues was amazing, with all of them giving feedback on how much they enjoyed the event and the way that it brought the office together in some friendly competition.”

The £1,289 raised will help us continue to provide free and confidential 24/7 support to construction workers and their families whenever they need it.

We are incredibly grateful to Bellway for continuing to support our charitable mission and for empowering its graduates to create projects that make a real difference to the construction community.
