Sunshine, smiles, friendly competition and plenty of fundraising spirit were all on par at the CA Drillers Charity Golf Day, held on 3 July at The Cave Hotel and Golf Resort in Canterbury.
Bringing together 27 teams, clients, colleagues and supporters from across the industry, the event proved to be a huge success, raising an incredible £20,434.64 for four charities, including Lighthouse Charity who were lucky enough to receive 40% of the funds.
Around 15 members of the CA Drillers team took part in the day, alongside special guest and former England cricketer Ronni Irani, helping create a memorable atmosphere both on and off the course.
While there was plenty of golfing action throughout the day, with Smart CI Group taking the trophy, it was the fundraising activities that really stole the show. One of the standout attractions was the event’s much talked about fundraising bus, which travelled around the course hosting a card game challenge. Participants paid to jump aboard, helping boost the day’s fundraising total while adding another layer of fun to the event.
“The day was full of laughs from start to finish and everyone had a great day,” said Maddie Bushell, Business Development Manager at CA Drillers. “The bus was definitely one of the memorable highlights and helped create a fantastic atmosphere around the course.”
For CA Drillers, supporting the Lighthouse Charity is about far more than fundraising. As a company supporter, the organisation recognises the vital role the charity plays in providing emotional, physical and financial wellbeing support to people working throughout the construction industry and their families.
Maddie explained: “The services that Lighthouse Charity provides are so important within the construction industry. We’ve hosted a Lunch and Learn session with the charity, which helped our team understand the full range of support available.
It is important that our team, and others across the industry, have access to the resources they need when they need them. What’s particularly valuable is that these services are also available to families and those who aren’t site based.”
The construction sector faces unique challenges, and CA Drillers believes it is essential that workers have access to specialist support from people who understand the realities of the industry. That shared commitment made Lighthouse Charity the natural choice for the company’s fundraising efforts.
With more than £20,000 raised, countless laughs shared and industry colleagues coming together for an important cause, the CA Drillers Charity Golf Day was a clear winner both on and off the course. Following the success of this year’s event, CA Drillers is already looking ahead and hopes to organise another fundraising day after Christmas.
A huge thank you to everyone who attended, donated and supported the event, helping Lighthouse Charity continue its vital work supporting our construction community.
