The 41st annual Pipeline Industries Guild (PIG) Irish Branch Dinner brought the industry together once again for a lively evening of connection, conversation, and celebration at the Intercontinental Hotel in Dublin. Coinciding, as always, with the Six Nations weekend, the event lived up to its reputation as one of the highlights of the sector’s social calendar.
Guests from across the industry gathered to catch up with familiar faces and make new connections. The evening began in traditional style, with Irish Branch Chair Damian Maguire and his invited guests piped into the room — a much-loved moment that officially signalled the start of the night’s festivities.
Returning for her fourth year as host, radio and TV presenter Ruth Scott was back at the helm, keeping the evening flowing with her trademark warmth and charm.
This year, funds were raised in support of our charity. Natalie Ryan, our fantastic Partnership Manager for Ireland, took to the stage to speak about the vital work our charity does in supporting construction workers and their families. Thanks to the generosity of those in attendance, the raffle and auction raised an impressive €9,000 on the night.
Also joining the evening was Pipeline Industries Guild Executive Director, Kate Lazenby, who had travelled over for the occasion. Kate spoke passionately about the Guild and brought a fitting “Sláinte!” to the room as she wrapped up her remarks.
After a fantastic meal, the crowd welcomed guest speaker Roddy Collins, who joined Ruth Scott on stage for a lively and wide-ranging conversation. From his family’s boxing legacy to tales from his own football career, both on and off the pitch, Roddy kept the room thoroughly entertained.
As the evening wound down, the conversations carried on and thoughts were already turning to next year’s event. The 42nd annual dinner can’t come soon enough!
