MACL Fishathon 2027 Reels In Another Huge Total

MACL Fishathon 3

The annual MACL Fishathon returned this September, bringing together colleagues, friends, suppliers and subcontractors for another memorable weekend of fishing, fundraising and friendly competition in support of Lighthouse Charity.

Now in its sixth year, the much-anticipated event continues to grow from strength to strength, with this year’s Fishathon attracting 45 participants and raising an incredible £24,801.25, going to supporting construction workers in the UK and Ireland.

Organised by the team at MACL, the Fishathon has become a surprise highlight in the calendar, providing an opportunity for people from across the construction community to unite away from the day-to-day pressures of work and enjoy the outdoors and each other’s company.

Throughout the weekend, anglers battled it out for a range of awards, with Alex Butters landing the biggest fish of the event and Josh Murdy taking home the prize for the most fish caught.

There was also a special moment for MACL Managing Director Steve Howe, who celebrated catching his first ever fish, proving that persistence really does pay off!

Adding to the community atmosphere, representatives from Lighthouse Charity joined attendees for the traditional Saturday BBQ, where participants, families and supporters had the opportunity to learn more about how the funds raised help construction workers facing difficult times.

Keeping everyone fuelled throughout the weekend was H & D Craft Services, whose coffee van proved a welcome addition to proceedings, while generous raffle prize donations and sponsorship from organisations across the industry helped make the event another outstanding success.

Lighthouse Charity’s Ellesse Parris attended the event and spoke to participants about the impact fundraising initiatives such as the Fishathon can have on the lives of construction workers and their families.

“I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who took part and for MACL for organising this magnificent event again. We’re so grateful for your support”, she added.

A special thank you goes to all the sponsors, donors, volunteers and supporters who contributed to this year’s event. Their generosity continues to help Lighthouse Charity provide vital support to those in need across the construction industry.

From everyone at Lighthouse Charity, thank you to MACL and everyone involved in organising, supporting and participating in another fantastic Fishathon.

The continued success of the event demonstrates the power of the construction community coming together to support its own, and with the fundraising page still active, the final total could climb even higher in the weeks ahead.
