During the months of June, July and August, Mavco Building Services project teams across multiple high-level projects across Munster and Leinster, donned purple to support the Lighthouse Charity’s ‘ wear purple week’ to raise awareness of the vital services available to the construction community.
In addition to vital fundraising Mavco recently changed their personal protective equipment {PPE} to purple and added our charity’s logo to the front and rear to create lasting visual awareness with their clientele, partners and workforce across several key projects. This move aims to encourage daily conversations around wellbeing and to highlight the services available to anyone who may be struggling.
They have also implemented a monthly “Lighthouse Safety Champion” initiative which again, focuses on bringing positive change and action. This accolade is awarded by management teams with direct input from the client’s construction management teams for all direct and sub-contractor work force and recognises outstanding monthly safety advocates.
During critical shutdown season, Mavco held informative webinar and onsite tap in sessions across pharmaceutical sites. These sessions focused on promoting resources available through Lighthouse to help reduce the stigma surrounding mental health in construction and encouraging a healthier, safer and inclusive culture in high pressure environments.
Ryan Vidler, General Manager of Mavco Building Services said, “We, at Mavco, are greatly appreciative to be in a privileged position to assist with raising awareness and vital funds for the Lighthouse Charity. I am personally grateful for all the support received to date for such a worthy cause, and to date we’ve raised an amazing €2174.
With all the positive engagement to date across Ireland on our active projects, Mavco project teams across all sites will continue to roll out and wear our new purple PPE with pride to facilitate raising positive awareness. In an industry where there is still a stigma around wellbeing conversations, we are incredibly proud to be delivering positive change which is clearly visible on site and encourages individuals to reach out for the support they need in a safe and supportive environment.”
