Teams across Russell WBHO came together during Mental Health Awareness Week, 2026 to raise an impressive £1,835 through a fun-filled Charity Van Pull Challenge.
Seven teams from sites and Head Office went head-to-head, pulling Russell’s branded vans over an 80-metre course in the fastest time possible. From the cleverly named Vincent Van Go and Van-Tastic teams to the eventual winners, Team LARJ, there was plenty of determination, team spirit and competitive energy on show throughout the afternoon.
It was a closely fought competition, with mere milliseconds separating the top three teams. Team LARJ ultimately pulled ahead to claim victory, recording an impressive winning time of 30.69 seconds.
While the racing was fierce, the real success of the day was the incredible support shown by employees, subcontractors and partners. Thanks to their generosity, Russell smashed its original fundraising target and raised an outstanding £1,735.

Paula James, Partnership Manager for the Lighthouse Charity, joined teams throughout the day and spoke about the support available across the industry.
Reflecting on the event, Olivia Lea, HR Manager and champion of Russell’s wellbeing and mental health programme, said, “The Van Pull Challenge really showcased what can be achieved when people come together. From organising the event and providing refreshments to the teams who took part, every contribution helped make the day a success.
We were overwhelmed by the support from our clients, subcontractors and employees, who donated so generously, got involved and encouraged the teams throughout the day. The atmosphere was fantastic, and it was wonderful to see everyone having fun while raising both money and awareness during Mental Health Awareness Week.”
Thank you to everyone from Russell WBHO and their supporters for an amazing day of fundraising and supporting our charity!
